South Australia
100% Frontignac Moscato
8.7% Alc

handpicked, stainless steel cool fermentation

Story: Crafted from two key grape varieties: Frontignac and Gordo Blanco. These aromatic varieties thrive in the sunny and warm climate of the region, developing vibrant and fragrant fruit characters that shine in every bottle. South Australia's perfect balance of warm days and cool nights allows these grapes to ripen slowly, enhancing their natural sweetness while retaining refreshing acidity.

Vintage: The 2024 Vintage was initiated by a very wet spring after a relatively dry July, August and September. The wet period included two large rainfalls during November and early December leading to spoilt flowering, very low berry numbers and an extremely low crop in most varieties. These low crops were blessed with cool dry conditions throughout the three months up to vintage giving fabulous flavour development very much like the 2002 season which makes me confident of wines that will age brilliantly.

Nose: The Moscato opens with a fragrant bouquet of lychee, honeysuckle, and nashi pear. Notes of tangerine and lemon sherbet add a zesty, playful edge.

Palate: On the palate, fresh honeydew melon and lemon sorbet lead the way, followed by delicate hints of jasmine and starfruit. The sweetness is perfectly balanced with a lively freshness, making for a bright and refreshing wine.

Pairing: This Moscato pairs wonderfully with a fresh fruit platter or light desserts like lemon tarts. It also complements spicy Asian dishes such as Thai green curry, where its sweetness and acidity can balance out the heat.

  • Halliday Wine Companion 5 Red Star Winery

Wines by Geoff Hardy is built on a philosophy of innovation, exploration, and a deep respect for the land. Founded by Geoff Hardy, a fifth-generation descendant of Australian wine pioneer Thomas Hardy, the business represents more than 165 years of winemaking heritage—while always looking to the future.

In 2012 and 2014, Winestate Magazine named Wines by Geoff Hardy as its Australian Winery of the Year. Australia’s most prominent wine writer, James Halliday, has also rated Wines by Geoff Hardy as a 5 red star winery—a top rating awarded to only 10% of Australian producers.

In the early 1980s, Geoff made the bold decision to step away from the family business and forge his own path. Guided by a vision to push the boundaries of Australian viticulture, he sought out exceptional vineyard sites that could express both regional character and the individuality of the varieties planted there. This independent spirit laid the foundation for what would become one of Australia’s most respected family-owned wine companies.

Shane Harris has been involved in the Wines by Geoff Hardy winemaking since 2006 and was appointed Senior Winemaker in 2009. Before entering the wine industry, Shane was a chef by trade and still uses these skills to complement his winemaking philosophy and make food-friendly wines. In 2012, 2018 and 2021, Shane was named Australian Winemaker of the Year by Australia’s leading wine industry publication, Winestate Magazine. In 2012 and 2014, Wines by Geoff Hardy was also named Winestate Magazine’s Australian Wine Company of the Year, an award based on individual wine scores throughout the year. Shane also played an important role in earning the company’s five red star rating in James Halliday’s Wine Companion, a top rating only awarded to 10% of Australian wineries.

Shane relies on the vines to translate the unique message of the vineyard into something tangible and sees his role as "not losing the message between picking the grapes and opening the bottle".

With a thirst for alternative and emerging varieties, the aim has always been to produce wines that highlight the quality of premium South Australian fruit and allow the distinct characteristics of each vineyard site to shine through. Sustainability, site expression, and craftsmanship are at the core of every label.
